Myrtle Beach Passes First Reading Of Stricter Minor Curfew Ordinance

The city changed the curfew for minors, instead of midnight to 6am, it was 10pm-6am.

The Myrtle Beach City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance regarding a stricter juvenile curfew Tuesday.

Over the Fourth of July weekend, the city changed the curfew for minors, instead of midnight to 6am, it was 10pm-6am.

The change came following a string of recent criminal situations along Ocean Boulevard.

Council members have now passed the first reading to make the new times permanent.

The curfew applies to the central business district from 6th Avenue South to 21st Avenue North. It also covers from Kings Highway to the ocean.

A second reading will be held before the changes will become final.
