A temporary teen curfew in Myrtle Beach could soon become permanent.
The curfew was set between 10pm-6am and was implemented over the Fourth of July weekend in response to a recent fatal shooting along Ocean Boulevard involving minors.
During the temporary curfew, police encountered a handful of juveniles violating the 10pm restriction.
The Myrtle Beach City Council is now set to discuss possibly making the curfew permanent.
The first reading will take place during a council meeting being held Tuesday. A second reading is expected at the end of July.
If approved, the curfew will be enforced permanently.
The recent shooting on the Boulevard adds to list of other criminal situations that have taken place in the area.
Lt. Tom Vest of the Myrtle Beach Police Department emphasized the importance of the curfew as part of a broader safety strategy.
