A NFL rookie hosted a barbecue in his local hometown for the homeless community.

Jordan Waters will make his debut in the league this season after signing with the Los Angeles Rams. He is from Robeson County and returned home over the weekend.

On Sunday afternoon the football player hosted the barbecue at Lumberton’s Christian Care Center, where a large crowd gathered for the free event.

Waters partnered with Sandhill Baptist Church, the Christian Care Center and local volunteers to pull the event together. He said it was a way to give back to his community that helped him get to where he is today.
