BMW Issues Recall On Over 70,000 EVs

Owners can take their vehicles to a BMW dealership to have an over-the-air software update performed.

BMW has issued a recall on more than 70,000 EVs.

The recall covers 2022-2025 BMW i4s and iXs. It also covers 2023-2024 i7s as well as 2024 i5s.

It was placed due to a software issue that could shut down electric motors, leading to a sudden loss of drive power.

A red warning symbol may be displayed on the dashboard about 20 seconds before loss of power occurs.

Around 43 claims have been made in connection to the problem but no accidents or injuries have been reported.
