A Chevy SUV was traveling south on Highway 41 when it struck a pedestrian

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Marion County.

Around 1:30am Friday, a Chevy SUV was traveling south on Highway 41 when it struck a pedestrian that was standing in the road near Smith Mill Pond Road.

The pedestrian did not survive the injuries they sustained. Their identity has not been publicly released.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.
