McColl Police Chief Candidate No Longer Accepting Position
Billy Stubbs said that he will no longer be accepting the position. He said his decision comes due to "some issues that have arisen."
The town of McColl’s police chief candidate has backed out.
On Monday, Mayor Robert Outlaw announced Billy Stubbs as the town’s new chief.
The new appointee said Wednesday that he will no longer be accepting the position. He said his decision comes due to “some issues that have arisen.”
“I try to be a man of my word but expect others to do the same. I want to thank Robert Outlaw for the support and consideration for the job, and with a heavy heart, I have to rescind my employment for the chief position. I will always do anything I can for the town and the citizens that I love,” Stubbs said.
Outlaw took to social media to express his disappointment and explain that two councilmen are responsible for the hold up on finding a new police chief.
The search will restart in hopes to find a new candidate.
