Covington Drive Wildfire 100% Contained
The Forestry Commission said that resources will continue to monitor the area until it is declared "controlled."
The Covington Drive Wildfire is now 100% contained.
The fire ignited on March 1 and burned 2,059 acres in the Carolina Forest area.
The flames were declared contained after significant rainfall in the area that assisted in extinguishing the hotspots that had been smoldering for weeks.
The Forestry Commission said that resources will continue to monitor the area until it is declared “controlled.”
The full containment announcement comes 82 days after the fire started.
