Driver Believed To Be Intoxicated Resulting In Fatal Motorcycle Crash
The crash occurred shortly before 2am on Sunday along the Highway 17 North off-ramp at Sea Mountain Highway.
A motorcycle crash in North Myrtle Beach resulted in the death of one person and left another injured.
The crash occurred shortly before 2am on Sunday along the Highway 17 North off-ramp at Sea Mountain Highway.
An investigation determined the driver was speeding at 100mph onto the ramp from 17 North toward Sea Mountain.
The driver attempted to stop, leaving 74 feet of skid-marks before striking a raised island. The motorcycle flipped over an additional three lanes and was found “mangled” on the shoulder.
The driver was discovered lying on the ground next to the curb, he was bleeding from the head and severely injured. His current condition is unknown.
The passenger identified as 40-year-old Jessica Woodall was found lying in the grass suffering “grave” injuries to her head and body.
It is believed the driver was drinking “heavily” and allegedly consumed Xanax before the accident. A bottle of vodka was found in the debris of the crash. Further details are limited.
