The suspect accused of conducting the Florida State University shooting was charged on Monday.

On April 17, 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner opened fire on the university’s main campus killing two people and injuring six others. There does not appear to be a connection between Ikner and any of the victims.

He is believed to be a student at FSU, and reportedly harbored white supremacist and far-right views. However, an exact motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

He is the stepson of a sheriff’s deputy and the handgun he used belong to her.

Ikner was shot by officials on the day of the shooting and was hospitalized.

He has now been charged with two-counts of first degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder.
