Florence County Barricade Situation Results In Death

Following negotiation attempts, officers moved to enter the home, but the suspect took their own life.

A barricade situation resulted in the death of one person.

Early Wednesday evening, police responded to a home along Savannah Grove Road in Effingham in which they encountered an hours-long standoff.

Around 5am Thursday, hostages that were being held were released. The suspect remained barricaded inside the home.

Following negotiation attempts, officers moved to enter the home, but the suspect took their own life.
