President Trump & Canadian Prime Minister Carney’s White House Meeting

"It's not for sale. It won't be for sale forever, but the opportunity is in the partnership and what we can build together," Carney said

President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met at the White House Tuesday.

Trump doubles down on his suggestion to make Canada the 51st state though Canadian officials including Carney have consistently rejected.

“It’s not for sale. It won’t be for sale forever, but the opportunity is in the partnership and what we can build together,” Carney said

Trump signaled he would not give up on the idea easily.

Trump also suggested that the ‘U.S. Mexico-Canada Agreement’ made during his first term, may not be necessary anymore. He added it needs to be renegotiated soon.

Carney was asked if he had anything to say regarding the 25% tariffs imposed by Trump. He said, “No. That’s the way it is.”

Despite Carney’s recent remarks about Trump, the U.S. president said he is a “very talented person” and commended the prime minister on his victory in Canada’s elections.
