Man Arrested In Connection To April Shooting That Left Two Hurt

An arrest has been in connection to an April shooting that left two people injured in Dillon County.

On April 23, officers responded to Lockemy Highway in the Newton community on reports of two unresponsive people.

Upon arrival, two men were found suffering gunshot wounds. Their current conditions are unknown.

An investigation led to the arrest of 34-year-old Rashad Coatney. He allegedly approached the men asking for money before shooting them.

Coatney now faces charges including two counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and attempted armed robbery. He is being held in the Dillon County Detention Center without bond.
