Limestone University in Columbia was founded in 1845 and has been around for 180-years.
A private Christian university in South Carolina is closing down at the end of this semester.
Limestone University in Columbia was founded in 1845 and has been around for 180-years.
The school has lost nearly half of its enrollment over the past decade.
University officials said that after two weeks of fundraising and other actions, they collected about $2 million failing to reach a $6 million goal to keep its doors open.
The university said the donations will be returned.
The final commencement ceremony will be held Saturday.
The state decided not to step in and assist because Limestone is a private institution.
