China’s Foreign Ministry Denies Trump/Jinping Tariff Talks
Beijing is now accusing Washington of "misleading the public" while repeatedly denying that talks are being held.
China’s foreign ministry has denied claims of a phone call between President Trump and Xi Jinping.
Last week, Trump said his administration was talking with China to reach a tariff deal and that Jinping called him.
However, a spokesperson for the country’s ministry said the two heads of states have not called each other recently and have not conducted consultations or negotiations on the tariffs issue.
Beijing is now accusing Washington of “misleading the public” while repeatedly denying that talks are being held.
“If the U.S. really wants to solve the problem through dialogue and negotiation, it should stop threatening and blackmailing China,” the ministry’s spokesperson said.
The claims come amid an on-going trade war in which tariffs are significantly impacted.
