Max is joining a handful of streamers who have been cracking down on password sharing.
Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking to bring in additional revenue from Max subscribers who have been using someone else’s account.
The streaming giant launched the Extra Member Add-on Feature priced at $7.99 a month. It allows a primary account owner to share their account by inviting a friend or family member outside their household to create a separate, standalone account with an adult profile under the same subscription.
There is a limit of one add-on per account. With this change, Max moves in line with rival streamers such as Netflix and Hulu.
