Pope Francis’ Cause Of Death Confirmed Cerebral Stroke
The Pope's body is currently lying in an open casket in the chapel of the Casa Santa Marta
We now know the cause of death of Pope Francis who died Monday at the age of 88.
It was confirmed that a cerebral stroke led to a coma and irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse.
The pontiff was also affected by a previous episode of acute respiratory failure. His death came around a month after he was discharged from the hospital, where he was treated for double pneumonia, following a 38-day stay.
The news of his death began a nine-day period of mourning. His body is currently lying in an open casket in the chapel of the Casa Santa Marta, his residence at the Vatican.
The pope’s funeral will be held on Saturday in St. Peter’s Square in front of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican city.
