Harvard Is Suing Trump Admin Over Funding Freeze

Harvard University is suing the Trump administration.
The lawsuit comes after the administration announced plans to freeze $2.2 billion in funding to the school after it refused to comply with demands to ban masks and diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
Harvard is alleging that the administration unlawfully threatened the school’s “academic independence” and “path-breaking research.” It also claims that the government violated harvard’s first amendment right to free speech by freezing the funds and threatening additional cuts.
The university previously said it will not bend to the government’s demands that align with President Trump’s agenda.
The White House nor the Justice Department have commented on the lawsuit.
