Millions Without Power In Puerto Rico After Major Blackout

Residents of Puerto Rico were left in the dark during a major blackout.

The power outage started at around 12:40pm Wednesday. The government’s office reported a failure in the transmission of the electrical system. 1.4 million customers lost power.

Genera PR, the company that generates power on the island, said the outage was due to the sudden shutdown of all generating plants, including the company’s plants and other private generators.

As of Thursday morning, nearly 692,000 customers had their power restored.
