Arson Suspect Of PA Governor’s Home Reveals Motive
The suspect is facing charges including attempted murder, aggravated arson, burglary, terrorism and other related offenses.
The suspect accused of setting fire to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s residence has revealed his motive.
On Sunday, Shapiro, his family and guests were forced to evacuate his home after 38-year-old Cody Balmer set fire to it that resulted in major damage.
The arsonist allegedly admitted that he planned to harm Shapiro if he found him. However, no one was injured in the incident.
Balmer has now revealed that he targeted the governor in part because of his views on the war in Gaza. He reportedly called 911 after the fire and said Shapiro needs to know he “will not take part in his plans for what he wants to do to the Palestinian people.”
There is not yet an indication antisemitism was a factor in the incident but the investigation into Balmer and his motives remains ongoing.
Blamer is facing charges including attempted murder, aggravated arson, burglary, terrorism and other related offenses.
