Pedestrian Dies Following Horry County Crash

A 2025 freightliner tanker truck was traveling on 501 when it struck a pedestrian who was in the road.

Shortly before 6am Thursday, Horry County Fire Rescue crews responded to Highway 501 near Legends Road.

A 2025 freightliner tanker truck was traveling on 501 when it struck a pedestrian who was in the road.

The driver of the truck was not harmed. However, the pedestrian died at the scene of multiple traumatic injuries. Their identity has not been publicly revealed.

The accident blocked lanes of traffic for a few hours as crews worked to clear the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
