USPS Proposes To Increase The Cost Of Forever Stamps
If approved, the 5-cent increase for a "forever" stamp and similar increases for postcards, letters and international mail, would take effect July 13.
The U.S. Postal Service is planning to increase the cost of a first-class stamp.
The agency is seeking to raise the price from
73 to 78-cents. The request was made Wednesday to the Postal Regulatory Commission that has not yet approved the proposal.
If approved, the 5-cent increase for a “forever” stamp and similar increases for postcards, letters and international mail, would take effect July 13.
The proposed changes would raise mailing services product prices approximately 7.4%. the request comes as President Trump is considering putting the USPS under the control of the Commerce Department. That move is part of an effort to stop losses at the $78 billion-a-year agency.
