Ripley’s Aquarium Welcomes Two New Hammerhead Sharks

The sharks are currently about six feet long and will grow to be fifteen to twenty feet.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach is now home to two new special types of fish.

Two Greater Hammerhead sharks have been added to the Dangerous Reef exhibit including one male and one female.

These sharks are recognized by their unique shaped head that helps them seek their prey by detecting the direction of a scent, and enabling it to see prey both above and below at the same time.

The sharks are currently about six feet long and will grow to be fifteen to twenty feet. They weigh up to 1,000 pounds.

The Dangerous Reef shark tunnel is in the heart of the aquarium located at Broadway at the Beach.
