UConn Wins Women’s Basketball NCAA Championship Over South Carolina

UConn's win confirmed the team's 12th NCAA Women's Basketball National Championship.

UConn has returned to the top of women’s basketball after the tournament championship Sunday.

The Huskies started out strong and didn’t let up, leading by double digits at half-time. They went on to secure an 82-59 victory over South Carolina.

It was the first time in Dawn Staley’s three championship appearances that her team fell short, and the Gamecocks struggled to keep pace on either end.

Azzi Fudd was named the Most Outstanding Player of the final four after scoring 24-points. Other names of the game were Paige Bueckres who scored 17 points, finishing her UConn career with a long awaited national title and freshman Sarah Strong who tallied 24 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and three blocks.
