One man is facing charges after an incident at an elementary school in Horry County.
On March 27, an employee at Loris Elementary School was assisting a parent with the lost and found when she discovered a gun inside of a jacket pocket.
The school resource officer reviewed surveillance video and was able to witness that the suspect entered the school wearing the jacket on March 14.
65-year-old Dennis Grate was seen leaving the jacket on a brick wall and going through a metal detector. He was then seen leaving the school, but left the jacket behind.
On March 17, a custodian picked the jacket up and placed it in the lost and found.
On Thursday, Grate was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon on school property and filing a false police report. He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and released on a $1,225 bond.
