Horry County Burn Ban Lifted
Horry County's ban was initiated late last month before the massive Covington Drive Wildfire ignited.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission has officially lifted the burn ban in Horry County.
The ban was lifted at noon on Wednesday but officials are reminding residents that they must still follow local and state burning laws.
Horry County’s ban was initiated late last month before the massive Covington Drive Wildfire ignited in Carolina Forest, which continues to burn out.
It was placed due to dangerously low relative humidity and gusty winds. Improved weather conditions prompted the ban to be lifted.
County officials said even though open burning is legal again, people must continue to contact the South Carolina Forestry Commission before starting to burn.
