Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem Intends To “Eliminate” FEMA

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced intentions to “eliminate” the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
FEMA coordinates disaster response in the immediate aftermath of storms and also assists with longer-term recovery.
A recent White House executive order fell short of getting rid of the agency, instead calling for a review of disaster response policies.
The order calls on Noem to propose changes and ensure “state and local governments and individuals have improved communications with federal officials and a better understanding of the federal role.”
Democrats have opposed Noem’s plans claiming that getting rid of FEMA would mean abandoning communities in need. Despite that, President Trump approved her plans as he criticizes the agency.
