For a 16-year-old cat, the price tag is about 32-thousand-dollars. The report says dog owners should prepare for costs to increase by up to seven-percent this year…and by as much as ten-percent for cat owners.

The costs does vary depending on the breed, size, health conditions and lifespan of the animals. The report adds the cost of bringing a pet home has actually gone down compared to last year, but the price to care for it long term has gone up.
