Several S.C. Counties Issue Burn Bans
All outdoor burning, including permitted burns, is prohibited during the ban.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission has issued a red flag fire alert prompting burn bans across several counties.
Horry County officials said the ban has been initiated due to current dry and windy conditions. The weather poses extreme fire dangers. All outdoor burning, including permitted burns, is prohibited during the ban.
For Conway, burns in fire pits, chimneys and portable fireplaces are allowed. But burning yard debris, bon-fires, fields, yards or ditches is not allowed.
Georgetown County also has a ban in place as well as Darlington for all areas outside of any city or town limits.
The burn bans will stay in effect until further notice.
