Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of “seeking to prolong the war.”
Zelenskyy took to social media to say, “regrettably, for more than a day already, the world has yet to hear a meaningful response from russia to the proposals made.” –
The leader is referring to the potential 30-day cease-fire that Ukraine has agreed to after discussions with top U.S. officials.
A Kremlin aide said that the ceasefire would “only benefit Kyiv’s forces.”
The Kremlin is reviewing details of the White House’s proposal that came after the talks, which led to a restoration of U.S. military aid and intelligence sharing to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said Russia’s refusal “once again demonstrates that Russia seeks to prolong the war and postpone peace for as long as possible. We hope that U.S. pressure will be sufficient to compel Russia to end the war.”
The proposal comes after the war reached three years in which Russia attempted to invade Ukraine to take over the property that once reigned under Russia’s government.
