Man Charged With Felony DUI Following Fatal Crash

Troopers found several open containers in his vehicle and "detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from him."

A man has been arrested in connection to a crash in Horry County.

The accident took place at around 3:15am on Sunday along Highway 57 near the intersection with Highway 90 just outside North Myrtle Beach.

A GMC truck was heading north when it struck an SUV traveling south. 63-year-old Tammy Blanton was the driver of the SUV. She was taken to a hospital where she later died.

The passenger of the SUV was also injured but their current condition is unknown.

23-year-old Dylan Butler was the driver of the truck. Troopers found several open containers in his vehicle and “detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from him” after the crash.

Butler was arrested with felony driving under the influence resulting in a death. He was released to home detention on a $30,000 bond.
