CVS To Open Smaller Stores With Just Pharmacy Section

The smaller stores are a part of the pharmacy chain's turn-around plans.

CVS is opening around a dozen stores this year that are nearly half the size of its traditional layout.

The locations will only have a pharmacy, ditching the front-end of the store that traditionally has sold snacks other consumer staples.

The smaller stores are a part of the pharmacy chain’s turn-around plans. The changes have also included over 1,000 store closures and thousands of layoffs.

A spokesperson for CVS said the smaller format stores will have a full-service pharmacy. They will also have some over the counter products.

They will be designed to meet the community’s specific pharmacy needs.
