HHS Department Offers $25,000 Buyouts To Most Employees

Most employees of the Health and Human Services Department have the offer to leave their job for a buyout payment of as much as $25,000.

The offer comes amid plans for shrinking the HHS workforce. It is the government’s most expensive federal agencies, with an annual budget of around $1.7 trillion.

The money is mostly spent on healthcare coverage for millions of people enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid.

Employees have until 5pm Monday to make a decision.
