Trump And Zelenskyy Get Into Heated Back And Forth During Meeting
The meeting ended in a back and forth between Trump and Zelenskyy, who was asked to leave the White House.
President Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for being “disrespectful” during a meeting at the White House on Friday.
Zelenskyy was expected to sign the deal allowing the U.S. greater access to Ukraine’s rare Earth minerals. However, the plan was ditched after a heated engagement between the leaders.
Zelenskyy’s main objective going into the meeting was to urge Trump not to abandon his country and to warn against getting too close to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Instead, the meeting ended in a back and forth between Trump and Zelenskyy, who was asked to leave the White House.
It’s unclear what this could mean for the deal that Trump insisted was necessary to repay the U.S. for the more than $180 billion in aid sent to Kyiv since the start of the war.
It’s unclear what Trump plans to do to get Zelenskyy back in on the deal.
