Section Of International Drive Closed Due To Controlled Burn

Officials expect the controlled burn to be done by the end of the week.

A section of International Drive closed around 8am Tuesday morning.

Part of the roadway is closed off to traffic as authorities conduct a controlled burn as part of the state’s land-management program.

The prescribed burns aim to “reduce the accumulation of flammable fuels on the forest floor.”

The closed section is located between Highway 90 and Ocean Bay Elementary School.

It is unclear how long the closure will last. But, officials expect the controlled burn to be done by the end of the week.

The roadway will be reopened if or as smoke conditions allow.
