Trump Claims Ukraine Started War With Russia

Trump called Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections" and claimed his support among voters was near rock-bottom.

The U.S. Special Envoy to Ukraine is meeting with President Volodmyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Thursday after President Trump falsely blamed Ukraine for starting the war with Russia.

The president called Zelenskyy a “dictator without elections” and claimed his support among voters was near rock-bottom.

“We have a situation where we haven’t had elections in Ukraine, where we have martial law. A dictator without elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a country left,” Trump said.

Zelenskyy said that there is disinformation coming from Russia, and some of what Trump has said is echoing Russia’s own narrative of the conflict.

A joint press conference that is planned to follow Thursday’s meeting has been cancelled as tension grows.
