A Florence man is behind bars in connection to a string of armed robberies.
The first incident occurred on January 14 in which 50-year-old Derick George “forcefully attempted” to steal an occupied vehicle while armed with a knife. He was unsuccessful and no injuries were reported.
On February 11, George robbed a convenience store. He allegedly demanded money from an employee while threatening to use a weapon.
And on February 15, George robbed another convenience store. He reportedly lunged toward an employee and “wrestled” the cash register away while threatening to shoot them.
Each situation took place along West Palmetto Street in Florence.
George was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of armed robbery, carjacking and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
