In Scotland County, deputies were conducting a traffic stop when a vehicle that appeared to be a patrol car passed by.

Authorities did not recognize the vehicle and attempted to further investigate by pulling it over.

During that traffic stop, items that officials believed to be police equipment were found mounted in the vehicle.

19-year-old Rusty Smith was arrested in connection to the discovery. He has been charged with one count of impersonating a law enforcement officer.

Smith was given a $1,500 unsecured bond.
