Teen Arrested After Police Pursuit Over Stolen Vehicle

The official then attempted to pull the car over but the driver failed to stop and sped off, weaving through Highway 501 traffic.

An arrest was made after a police pursuit unfolded in Horry County last week.

An officer was patrolling in the area of Waccamaw Pines Drive heading toward Highway 501 when they received an alert regarding a stolen vehicle.

The official then attempted to pull the car over but the driver failed to stop and sped off, weaving through Highway 501 traffic.

The chase reached about 96-miles-per-hour before approaching the 3rd Avenue South intersection where the suspect turned on to Ocean Boulevard.

They then sped down the boulevard and turned into a beach access parking area.

The driver exited the car and fled on foot before police captured them a short time later.

They were identified as a 13-year-old boy who was a reported runaway. He now faces charges of failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a stolen vehicle and more.

The teen is being held at the S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
