The flames were coming out of the garage area of a large single-family home.

Several fire units responded to a structure fire in the Florence area Monday.

Shortly before 7pm, crews reported to a home located in the 3900 block of West Lake Drive.

The flames were coming out of the garage area of a large single-family home.

Neighbors and community members said they heard what sounded like a loud explosion just before the structure caught fire and it could be heard miles away from the scene.

Multiple fire departments worked together to assist in getting the fire contained and under control.

EMS was called for an individual that needed medical attention, but no serious injuries were reported.

However, several pets were killed as a result of the flames.

Further details remain limited at this time as an investigation is underway.
