White House Puts Freeze On Federal Loans And Grants

The pause will be put in place to give the administration time to review agency programs.

The White House has put a freeze on federal grants and loans.

Federal agencies have been ordered to temporarily pause “all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all federal financial assistance.”

The pause will be put in place to give the administration time to review agency programs. They will work to determine the best uses of the funding for those programs consistent with the law and the president’s priorities.

However, Social Security and Medicare Benefits should not be impacted. Assistance provided directly to individuals should not be included either.

The pause is set to go into effect Tuesday at 5pm.

The programs expected to be impacted are related to border security, the federal workforce, the military and other aspects of government.
