JD Vance Formally Resigns From His Seat In The Senate

An appointed Senator will serve in Vance's seat until a special election is held next year.

As of Friday, JD Vance formally resigned from his seat in the Senate.

He sent his resignation letter to Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine as he prepares for the next four years in the White House.

Vance said as he gets ready to assume his duties as vice president, he would like to express that it has been an honor and privilege to serve the people of Ohio in the Senate.

DeWine will appoint a replacement for Vance, who only served two years of his six-year term in the senate.

An appointed Senator will serve in Vance’s seat until a special election is held next year.
