North Myrtle Beach’s former city manager is now running for mayor.
Mike Mahaney served as the city manager for 14-years before the city council voted to oust him in October.
Now, he is running for the city’s top position in the November election.
Mahaney filed with the South Carolina Ethics Commission on Monday and has already spent nearly $6,000 on Columbia-based Crantford Research to research campaign polling.
The city’s current mayor, Marilyn Hatley, is serving her sixth term as of now and had no comment about Mahaney’s decision to run.
