Workers United has authorized a potential strike for Starbucks workers.
The union represents over 10,000 baristas and has been urging Starbucks to increase wages and staffing at its stores as well as implement better schedules.
The union has been bargaining delegation that represents workers at 525 locations. It argues the coffee giant has yet to offer a comprehensive economic package.
It is unclear when the workers will go on strike.
Starbucks said in an emailed statement the union’s move to authorize the strike was disappointing, and that it was committed to reaching a final framework agreement.
Negotiations have been underway since April of this year.
