Former NFL player Michael Vick has been tapped to take on a head football coaching position.
Vick was a star quarterback at Virginia Tech before he became the first African American quarterback to be drafted in the NFL first overall. He was selected by the Atlanta Falcons.
Vick also became the first quarterback in the NFL to rush for a thousand yards in a season. He was in the NFL for 13 seasons.
Vick will now be the head coach at Norfolk State. He will replace Dawson Odums who was fired after a 15-30 record across four seasons.
The head coaching job is the first for Vick but he said, “I know how to lead and I know what it takes.”
