ABC Agrees To Pay $15 Million To Settle Defamation Lawsuit

As part of the settlement, ABC News posted an editor's note on its website as a public apology.

ABC News has agreed to pay $15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit.

The lawsuit came after Anchor George Stephanopoulos delivered inaccurate information on-air, stating Donald Trump had been found civilly liable for sexually assaulting writer E. Jean Carroll.

As part of the settlement, ABC News posted an editor’s note on its website as a public apology.

The network will also pay $1 million in legal fees to the law firm of Trump’s attorney on the case.

The $15 million will go toward Trump’s Presidential Library.

ABC said it is pleased the parties have reached an agreement but a spokesperson for Trump declined to comment.
