NMB City Leaders Approve Housing Plans Near Barefoot Resort

The city council voted 4-3 in favor of a 58-acre annexation at the intersection of Highways 22 and 31.

North Myrtle Beach city leaders have approved housing plans near Barefoot Resort.

The project has been in development for around 12-years.

Monday, the city council voted 4-3 in favor of a 58-acre annexation at the intersection of Highways 22 and 31.

The ‘Blu Water’ development is expected to bring 49 homes and will be adjacent to Barefoot Resort, which prompted many residents to express concerns over existing traffic and stormwater systems.

The city’s vote ignores a council-appointed commission vote of 7-0 that rejected the development in July of last year.

That council only served as an advisory body and had no impact on the city’s decision.

Developers will pay $324,500 worth of impact fees to the city.
