Things you Probably Shouldn’t Discuss at Thanksgiving Dinner
From politics to cooking advice!
Thanksgiving dinner can quickly take a turn for the worst, especially during an election year. But besides politics, there are other topics to avoid if you want a peaceful meal. First, know your audience. Bragging about your accomplishments or your kids’ successes can feel insensitive to someone who hasn’t had the best year. Relationships are another sensitive subject, especially for single guests. Avoid drilling them about their relationship status. You also want to be care making comments about someone’s appearance, body, or how much they’ve eaten. Even talking about your own eating habits can make guests feel guilty about enjoying their meal. And finally, keep your cooking advice to yourself!
