Biden Approves Ukraine Use Of Anti-Personnel Mines
The U.S. intends for Kyiv to use the mines in the eastern part of the country where Russian troops have made progress.
The Biden administration approved a move in response to Vladimir Putin lowering the threshold for use of nuclear weapons.
Putin signed the doctrine after Biden gave Ukraine the greenlight to use American-supplied longer-range weapons to target deeper into Russian territory.
That was in response to the presence of thousands of North Korean soldiers assisting Russia in it’s war.
Now, Biden has approved sending anti-personnel mines to Ukraine for the first time in another major policy shift.
The U.S. intends for Kyiv to use the mines in the eastern part of the country where Russian troops have made slow and steady progress against Ukrainian defensive lines.
With the approval, the U.S. sought assurance that Ukraine will limit the risk to civilians from the mines.
