KFC Files Lawsuit Against Church’s Texas Chicken
KFC accuses Church's of violating its trademark rights
Two well known chicken chains are currently in a dispute.
KFC has filed a lawsuit against Church’s Texas Chicken.
It accuses Church’s of violating its trademark rights when its competitor began using the words “Original Recipe” in its advertising and promotions.
The lawsuit claims that beginning September 30, KFC noticed Church’s “abruptly” began using the phrase and ignored letters sent in October in which KFC objected the ads.
KFC has used the phrase for over half a century and said Church’s move “is likely to create confusion in the marketplace and dilute the original recipe mark.”
Church’s has not yet commented, citing active litigation.
