An investigation is currently underway to reveal more.

The FDA said the source of contamination could be linked to the onions that top the burger.

McDonald’s has removed the item from its menus from stores across Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Idaho, Iowa and several others.

Though the outbreak has not affected the Carolinas, the quarter pounder burgers may not be available.

The company’s CEO said no other menu items have been affected. He added that their first and foremost priority is keeping their customers safe and they are working with investigators to discover the issue.
